Be Our Guest on Alamo Area Health News Would you like to be a guest on Alamo Area Health News? We welcome advanced practice nurses and allied health professionals. Here are some things to consider: The purpose of the show is to educate the lay public, particularly those who may have difficulty with written material, about important health care topics. A secondary goal is to educate the public about services provided by advanced practice nurses and allied health professionals with whom they may not be familiar. Guests will provide the host with 15 questions they would like to talk about on the show, along with the points they will highlight in response. This allows those not used to being interviewed to prepare for the program. The interview is intended to portray the guest in a positive way, not to ambush the guest with surprises. The guest will be asked to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled taping session. Four programs are taped in one 3 hour session, so timeliness is important. All cell phones and pagers must be turned off while taping is going on. No one is allowed to enter or leave the studio once taping of the next session has started. The host will require the guest's name and credentials as they will appear on screen prior to the taping. Graphics to appear on screen are limited to four 8.5 in. by 11 inch sheets, and must be provided ahead of taping so the studio staff can film them before the taping sessions begin. Graphics should be in a picture format if possible, and should help illustrate a major point. Props are limited to those items which will not cause a glare from the bright studio lights. They should also fit easily on the interview desk and be easily manipulated to minimize distractions from the interview. Guests are asked to consider wearing a suit to the taping, preferably in a solid color that is not all black or all white. Patterns are distorted on the screen and distract from the guest. Make-up is done by the guest, and will require a much heavier application than you would normally wear, such as at work. For help with make-up, I recommend the make-up artists at MAC cosmetics at North Star Mall (210.375.7804). Please tell us about the topic you'd like to cover on the show and provide us with your name and a phone number where we can contact you.
